Kathryn “Kathy” M. Tschiegg, RN, BBA, RPCV

Founder, CAMO USA & Fundación CAMO Honduras | International Oversight

Kathryn “Kathy” Tschiegg is a registered nurse, critical care and trauma nurse, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and business professional whose life’s work has focused on building sustainable healthcare, education, and community-development systems in Honduras. After completing her nursing degree in 1978, she served as a Peace Corps nurse in Honduras and later worked in Emergency and Surgical Intensive Care at Aultman Hospital. She subsequently earned her business degree and founded Central American Medical Outreach (CAMO) in 1993.

What began with medical supplies collected from her home has grown into an international humanitarian organization providing more than 217,000 services each year through medical care, professional and community education, and community development. Kathy developed CAMO’s Counterpart Model, which pairs U.S. and Honduran professionals in long-term relationships designed to strengthen local knowledge, systems, infrastructure, and leadership rather than create dependency.

Her work has received recognition in both the United States and Honduras. She was named Outstanding Medical Professional of the Year by the Stark County Medical Society in 2003, has received two Paul Harris Awards from Rotary International, the ATHENA Award in 2009, and the Outstanding Alumni Award of all Orrville High School graduating classes in 2010. In 2013, she received the REAL Award for General Medicine and was honored by the National Congress of Honduras with a Congressional Award. In 2022, she received the Kent State University Alumni Association Distinguished Citizen Award, and she has been named Distinguished Volunteer of Santa Rosa de Copán.

In 2023, Kathy was recognized for 30 years of service through proclamations from the President of Honduras, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Ohio, and the mayors of Orrville, Wooster, and Santa Rosa de Copán.

Kathy continues to divide her time between Honduras and CAMO’s U.S. headquarters in her hometown of Orrville, Ohio, providing international oversight, developing programs and professional teams, strengthening governance, and preserving the sustainable model and mission that have guided CAMO for more than three decades.

Ron Taggart

President

Ron Taggart is a retired entrepreneur and charter member of the Stow-Munroe Falls, Ohio Rotary Club. After serving with the U.S. Army in Korea where he was cited for meritorious service, Ron served an apprenticeship in printing with a small rural Ohio newspaper. With the knowledge gained from this training and a $400 loan from his father, Ron founded Printing Concepts, a commercial printing and mailing business headquartered in Stow, Ohio. With the help of a talented staff, Ron grew Printing Concepts from a one-person shop operating in a rented garage to a 50 employee operation housed in a modern 44,000 square foot facility.

John Michael Weeman

Vice President

John started Wooster OB/Gyn in Wooster Ohio. Dr. Weeman recently sold his business and continues to work part-time. He has served on many boards during his career as an OB/Gyn doctor. He enjoys travel, family, and friends.

Nancy Nikiforow

Secretary

Nancy Nikiforow is a retired Higher Education Administrator who has served five universities as a grant writer and advocate for first-generation college students. Her early career included social work in a city hospital and migrant health center. Nancy earned a BA from Cleveland State University in Social Work and Spanish. Her experience as a foreign exchange student in Costa Rica sparked her love of Spanish and Latin cultures.

Mary Anne Orcutt

Board Member

MaryAnne Orcutt, Ph.D. is a psychologist who is mainly retired after 43 years of practice. She was owner of a private practice employing eight psychologists in Columbus. She specialized in couples and family therapy, adults, and executive coaching, and she served on the medical staff of two hospitals. She started her career in community mental health, ultimately serving as Co-Executive Director. She has served on several boards, including serving as President, Chair of a Personnel Committee, and Chair of the Ohio Psychological Association Ethics Committee. She has provided psychological continuing education, training, and supervision for psychologists, physicians, and other mental health professionals. She and her husband have two adult children, and two grandchildren.

Glenda Lehman-Ervin

Board Member

Board Member & Marketing Advisor Glenda worked in journalism and for a Fortune 200 company before returning to work in her family’s business in 1996. As the Vice President of Marketing for Lehman’s Hardware in Kidron, she was responsible for the advertising, marketing, and media relations for the 200-employee enterprise.

Dennis Horst

Board Member

Dennis graduated from Hesston College with a degree in Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management. In 1993, he started the Dutch Kitchen Restaurant and ran it until selling the business in 2021. He has also launched several small businesses in Wayne and Geauga counties. He previously served on the boards of CAMO, Camp Luz, and Salem Mennonite Church, and is now returning to CAMO’s board. He also volunteers regularly, helping pick up supplies and load containers for Honduras. Dennis and his wife, Sherry, have three grown sons. He enjoys starting new business ventures and spending time at the beach.

Emily Lee

PhD, CHES - Executive Director CAMO USA

Emily first fell in love with CAMO in 2009 as a volunteer, and she’s been finding her way back ever since. Today, as Executive Director, she leads the organization’s mission to bring quality medical care, education, and community development to Honduras.

Emily brings more than 25 years of experience across nonprofit leadership, public health, research, and academia. She holds a PhD in Public Health with a focus on community health and is a Certified Health Education Specialist, and her career has spanned executive leadership roles, teaching, and hands-on program work across the field.

What drives Emily is simple: people deserve access to care, no matter where they live. She believes that lasting change comes from empowering communities to lead their own solutions, and she’s committed to building programs that are sustainable for the long haul, not just quick fixes. That means looking at health holistically, addressing not only medical needs but the education, economic opportunity, and community infrastructure that allow people to truly thrive. It’s that same belief that first drew her to CAMO back in 2009, and what continues to bring her back today. She’s spent her career building organizations that make that possible, and she’s honored to now do that work for CAMO.

Rachel Foltz, PTA

Community Relations and Engagement Coordinator

Rachel is CAMO’s Community Relations and Engagement Coordinator and a licensed physical therapist assistant. Her background in physical therapy sparked her interest in healthcare and serving others. After taking several mission trips to Honduras as a teenager, Rachel developed a passion for nonprofits that empower Hondurans to lead and thrive within their own communities.

In 2019, Rachel joined CAMO as an international volunteer, combining her passion for physical therapy with her desire to serve in Honduras. Seeing firsthand CAMO’s impact in health, education, and community development, inspired her to move to Honduras for six months to receive training and gain hands-on experience before joining the CAMO USA staff in 2023.

Today, Rachel connects individuals, churches, and organizations to CAMO’s mission through community engagement, fundraising, and securing the medical supplies and equipment needed to support CAMO’s programs. She is passionate about sharing the message that you don’t have to leave Wayne County to make an international difference

Katherine Amstutz, MS

Warehouse Logistics

Kat Amstutz has a diverse background in martial arts instruction, photography, sports science, exercise physiology, and working with church youth. She values connection, creativity, and opportunities to make a positive difference. A longtime practitioner of Taekwondo, Kat is proud to have achieved the rank of Master—an accomplishment that reflects her dedication, discipline, and commitment to personal growth. Her other passions include photography, reading, attending concerts, and having game nights with friends.

After volunteering here for several years, Kat joined the CAMO team in July 2015. As the warehouse logistics lead, Kat keeps donations in order and flowing through our system. She prepares them and organizes them for shipment, seeing them through the full process from incoming donation to sending a full container off to Honduras.

Mike Prill, MIM

Financial Consultant

Mike began working for CAMO in November 2025. He developed an appreciation for the people and the beauty of Honduras during a volunteer year there with his wife at a non-profit organization in 2024-2025. Prior to volunteering in Honduras, Mike worked in the professional and financial services industries for 30 years. He has a Master’s degree in International Management and has hopes of becoming more fluent in Spanish.

Alejandra Elvir, MBA

Chief Financial Officer

Alejandra Elvir is the Chief Financial Officer of CAMO, where she leads financial management, strategic planning, and organizational operations across CAMO USA, CAMO Honduras, and INSSA. She holds a degree in Finance and an MBA from TEC de Monterrey Business School. With experience in nonprofit financial management and healthcare operations, Alejandra is committed to strengthening transparency, accountability, and the responsible use of resources to support CAMO’s mission. Her leadership is guided by integrity, empathy, and purpose.

Michelle Perrino

Volunteer and Logistics Coordinator

Michelle began working for CAMO in September 2024. With an Associate’s Degree in Business Management, Michelle has a heart for local and international missions and connecting with people. NANCY LIZZETH RIVERA HENRIQUEZ

President

Originally from Santa Rosa de Copán, married, and mother of two children. She is a specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics and works at Hospital de Occidente as well as in her private practice.

She is proud to be a CAMO volunteer because she believes in the power of service and in bringing people together to transform lives. At CAMO, she finds an opportunity to contribute, promote solidarity, and demonstrate that when people work together with commitment and heart, they can create lasting change.

PATRICIA BUESO FIALLOS

Vice President

Originally from Santa Rosa de Copán, married, and mother of four daughters. She is a Fine Arts teacher and currently serves as Assistant General Manager of Casa Bueso.

Being a CAMO volunteer is deeply meaningful to her because it is a way to bring hope to many people and help build a better country.

CARLA LIZETTE CONTRERAS REYES

Secretary

Originally from Yoro, single, and mother of two children. She is a general practitioner and currently works as a physician at a health center in Santa Rosa de Copán.

Being a CAMO volunteer is an opportunity to serve others, bring hope, change lives, and bring joy.

HECTOR ORLANDO SANTOS TÁBORA

Treasurer

Born in Santa Rita, Copán. Married. He is a postgraduate professor, attorney, and tax and regulatory compliance advisor for public and private entities. He volunteers with CAMO because he believes that change is built through action, and his desire is to see a better healthcare system in the country.

JESUS HUMBERTO ROMERO GARCÍA

Fiscal

Originally from Santa Rosa de Copán. He is an Industrial Electrical Engineer, a tenured professor at UNAH, and an independent consultant in Energy and Development. Married, with three children. Volunteering with CAMO gives him the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to Honduran society, especially to the most vulnerable. It also represents a unique opportunity for civic engagement.

DENIS MAURICIO CÓRDOVA PINEDA

Board Member I

Attorney specializing in Labor Law, married, and father of two children. Serving with CAMO is a way for him to support those who need it most.

ELOISA PINEDA ALVARADO

Board Member II

A Chemical Engineer by profession and General Manager of Copan Industrial. Married, born in Tegucigalpa and residing in Santa Rosa de Copán. She has three wonderful children.

She considers volunteering with CAMO to be one of the greatest blessings in her life. Being able to serve those in need is a privilege, and being part of positive change in the lives of many people allows her to grow as a human being.

MARCO ALEJANDRO ALVARADO

Board Member III

Attorney and Notary Public, with a Master’s Degree in Business Law. Originally from Santa Rosa de Copán, happily married, and father of two wonderful and intelligent children, who are among his greatest motivations to work toward a society with greater opportunities, solidarity, and well-being for all.

He feels honored to be part of the CAMO Honduras Board of Directors and to contribute, through his experience and commitment, to a cause that seeks to create a positive impact on our society.

He has been a member of CAMO’s Board of Directors since 2005 because he believes that helping others is also a responsibility as a citizen.

Originally from Santa Rosa de Copán, he holds a degree in Business Administration. He volunteers with CAMO to contribute to its commendable work of improving quality of life and bringing hope.

HECTOR RENÉ ORTEGA GUEVARA

Alternate Board Member II

Originally from Macuelizo, Santa Bárbara, married, and father of four daughters. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and works on International Cooperation projects for sustainable development, as well as teaching at the graduate level. He volunteers with CAMO because he seeks to contribute to organizations that, in an organized and transparent manner, implement programs that transform the lives of the most vulnerable, promote equity, and help ensure the fundamental right to life of these communities.

Originally from Santa Rosa de Copán, married, and mother of two children. She holds a degree in Psychology and volunteers with several nonprofit organizations.

JOSÉ BAUTISTA

Director

He joined the CAMO team at the end of 2014. Prior to that, he supported CAMO Honduras as a volunteer and served on the Board of Directors and the Succession Committee.

He has extensive experience in the leadership and management of nonprofit and development organizations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. In addition to his work at CAMO, he participates in theological training and youth activities at the church he attends.

ARYENY GIRÓN

Deputy Director

Industrial Engineer, with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, a postgraduate diploma in Higher Education, and a specialization in Project Management. She has been part of CAMO Honduras since 2011, where she has built a career progressing from the Operations Department to her current position as Deputy Director.

Her experience focuses on leadership, project management, resource administration, institutional strengthening, and team management, with an emphasis on excellence, transparency, and service. Her leadership is guided by integrity, faith in God, and a deep commitment to social transformation and the well-being of communities.

HEIDI HERNÁNDEZ

Marketing Manager

She has been part of CAMO since 2013, leading the Marketing Department at CAMO Honduras and supporting the communications strategy of CAMO USA. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and is pursuing a Master’s in Strategic Marketing, with professional experience in international cooperation, education, and marketing initiatives for small businesses. She believes marketing is a powerful way to connect people, share meaningful stories, and create positive change. Outside of work, she is a mother to a daughter who inspires her, and she values spending quality time with her family and creating meaningful memories. She is passionate about serving with purpose, working with dedication, and making a positive impact in her community.

YESMI GIRON

Education and Human Resources Manager

Industrial Engineer with a Master’s Degree in Human Resources. She leads CAMO’s education and human resources programs. Under her leadership, these programs have achieved national and international reach, as well as recognition throughout Honduras for CAMO’s Training Center accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).

ZENADIA PERDOMO

Health Services Manager

She is very proud to have been part of the CAMO team since June 2013. She currently plays a key role in managing CAMO’s health programs.

Her work focuses on collaborating closely with the partners of each unit, with the goal of ensuring quality and compassionate care for every patient who requires our services. This commitment to the well-being of the community is the cornerstone of her daily work.

NUBIA CUELLAR

Financial Manager

She has been part of CAMO Honduras since 2022. She has dual university training in Business Administration and English Language Teaching. Her experience in accounting, financial management, regulatory and customs compliance optimization, and other administrative operations has enabled her to lead the accounting administration and oversight of multiple health programs, budgetary control, the design of annual operating plans, and the assurance of financial transparency and strict compliance with tax obligations before the Board of Directors and regulatory authorities in the country.

Passionate about transforming administrative challenges into efficient processes, she has a strong results-oriented approach, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a strategic perspective.

LUIS MEJIA

Operations Manager

Industrial Engineer. He leads technical planning, medical brigade logistics, and the comprehensive management of the distribution facility at CAMO Honduras. He is responsible for inventory control and the implementation of efficient processes for the use of resources.

His management ensures preventive maintenance of the infrastructure and compliance with quality standards in every service provided to the community.

MARIA JOSÉ ALVARADO

Biomedical Manager

Biomedical Engineer. She is responsible for managing CAMO’s medical equipment. She oversees the operation and maintenance of medical technology installed across CAMO’s programs, ensuring that each device functions optimally.

Her commitment is to ensure quality care through the use of safe and reliable equipment.
